Move the front wheel back
Rational for  modificationThe wheels must
roll for the car to
move. Rolling
requires friction
to occur. Thus the
rubber balloons
will increase the
friction that will
increase the rolling.
When the rubber
balloons are come off
the wheels, friction
between wheels and
floor is reduced,
resulting in lesser
rolling. The tape
increase friction
between the rubber
balloon and the CD
decreasing the
chances of the rubber
balloon coming off.
If the wheels are parallel,
the force applied will be
to the same direction,
decreasing the amount of
resultant force due to
forces being applied in
different directions. If the
wheels are perpendicular
to the axle, the
perpendicular distance
between the line of action
and the axle is at it's
maximum, thus there will
be more moment and the
car will move straight
and further.
Also, since the length of
the car exceeded the size
limit, we moved the front
wheel backwards, so the
overall length would be
shorter, and thus fit in the
size limit.
